Thousands
of people around the world New Year resolution is to quit smoking. Despite of
that there is striking increase in number of smokers as per WHO reports. Which
intimates that most of them fails to quit smoking. Yes, it’s very
straightforward that Smoking is addictive. Nicotine is a drug that is naturally present in the tobacco plant and
is primarily responsible for a person’s addiction to tobacco products,
including cigarettes.
But most of us choose to smoke than not. Each of
us should think of the future. Every puff on a cigarette is another tick closer
to a time bomb of terrible consequences.
The true face of smoking is disease, death and horror – not
the glamour and sophistication the pushers in the tobacco industry try to
portray. Smoking is hateful to the nose, harmful to the brain and dangerous to
lungs. Smoking is not a joke. But the fact that people are making BILLIONS of rupees
by selling that slowly and killing them. Everyone should understand this thing
we are not smoking a cigarette, the cigarette is really smoking you.
Everyone knows it’s dangerous to smoke. But
many don’t care about sideeffects.Smoking
causes cardiovascular disease, lung
cancer, throat cancer, mouth cancer,
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), blood pressure, fertility problem. Smoking worsens asthma and counteracts asthma medication.
Smoking stains your teeth and gums. Smoking causes an acid taste in the mouth
and contributes to the development of ulcers. Smoking also affects your looks:
smokers have paler skin and more wrinkles. This is because smoking reduces the
blood supply to the skin and lowers levels of vitamin A.
Break the chain!!!
Learning
from others experience is better than let everything happening to us. See
others who are regretting for not stopping smoking in the starting. So, if you
don’t have smoking habit it’s preferred not to start it. If you have a habit
already realize reality when you have a chance and quit smoking. It Hard to do
but necessary. It’s like stop today or try quitting tomorrow.
If you are one of the many millions that want
to quit smoking, a specific focus on personalizing your treatment to suit your
personal needs throughout the quitting process is advised. This should
preferably include the combination of one-on-one or group behavioral therapy and
pharmacotherapy to raise your chances of quitting. If pharmacotherapy is not an
option, stick with behavioral therapy.
And don’t forget integrating healthy,
stress-reducing lifestyle changes into your day, like mindfulness and exercise
sessions, and making use of engaging web-based tools for a smoother journey
towards long-term smoke free living. However, it’s important to bear in mind
that a recent cohort study concluded that use of nicotine replacement therapy
bought over the counter, like patches and gum, lowered odds of abstinence by
more than 20% when compared with no help at all.
You’re
always better off if you quit smoking; it’s never too late.
